One common reason is that their goals aren’t motivating or inspiring them. The goals you set need to be meaningful to you; they shouldn’t be things that you think you ‘should’ be doing. You’ll get the most benefit out of achieving goals that are personal to you.
Every individual or organization should have a vision as well as, a set of dreams and audacious long-term goals that provide a solid base for the smaller goals you set. Your vision inspires you and gives you energy, guides you and gives all efforts a purpose. It connects goals with your deepest motivations and purpose. It gives you a direction and helps you constantly check if you are on your way to Success.
Types of GOALS-
Not all goals are the same. Some goals focus on getting a concrete Outcome while some are focused on Performance.
These are the most common type of goals. They focus on achieving something at a particular point in time, like reading a book by the end of the month or being a 100 crore company in 3 years. If the goal is too big, split it down by year, quarter, month and even week.
Also known as performance goals, these goals focus on the DOING side; or rather the duration spent working on your plan. It plots out the activity to be done daily or weekly, like reading every day for at least 5 minutes or meditating for 30 minutes every day. It concentrates on the behavior and personal development that will get you to a certain goal. Creating a routine that aligns with the goals instead of just trying to work on the outcome directly allows people to be even more successful.
And the advantages to this type of goals are plentiful: The Execution goals you set will in a longer run help you achieve your Outcome based goals. Well, doesn’t it also sound logical, only if you make it a point to read every day by the end of the month you will finish reading a book?
